Rosacea: A Redness Relief Skincare Routine
Our approach is to keep it simple and treat rosacea with a long-term plan, rather than a quick solution.
Top tips for rosacea skincare:
💚 Avoid anything that is likely to overstimulate or irritate your skin. This includes tools (including makeup brushes), makeup and products, especially anything with artificial colours and fragrances, synthetics or extremely active ingredients.
💚 Introduce Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs) - both in your diet and applied topically to your skin.
💚 Strip back your skincare routine and nurture the skin, especially when cleansing. Avoid anything that may strip the skin of its natural moisture (including alcohol, high pH or foaming cleansers).
Rosacea Routine
PHASE 1 (approximately 1-2 weeks)
While you are experiencing a flare up, we recommend starting slowly and building up your routine based on how your skin responds.
Evening:
- Cleanse with Smudge Budge – but we recommend holding off using a Smudge Budger until the redness subsides.
- Nourish with Green Juice Rescue Balm.
These are both rich in essential fatty acids to help restore and heal the skin.
Morning:
- Splash your face with water. We don’t recommend cleansing again as our skin produces protective oils overnight, so we don’t want to strip them away!
- Protect with Green JuiceÂ
- We do also recommend applying our Sun Juice SPF.
Full Routine (Post Flare):
Transition into this routine once the redness and inflammation has reduced.
Evening:
- Cleanse with Smudge Budge. You can now start to use a Smudge Budger as well.
- Hydrate with Bio Juice.
- Nourish with Rejuice.
- Apply Green Juice over the top when needed for extra nourishment
Morning:
- After splashing your face with water, apply Bio Juice.
- Nourish with Good Juice to help strengthen and restore. This is a probiotic cream that will help to reduce inflammation and calm the skin, so it is also perfect for your rosacea.
- Follow with Sun Juice SPF.
Juice Boosters
Once the rosacea flares and redness have subsided, we would recommend introducing an exfoliant. Brightening Berry Facial in A Jar is perfect for sensitivity.
How do I know if I have rosacea?
The first sign of rosacea is usually ‘blushing’, where the face becomes flushed and red. This is predominately on the cheeks, nose and chin, and can be uncomfortable, sometimes even painful.
The blushing is caused by the capillaries of the skin (the small surface blood vessels) enlarging. With repeated episodes, these vessels may burst causing the redness to intensify, even exposing the skin to the risk of inflammation and infection.
It’s not known what causes rosacea, but we do know there are some factors that seem to trigger and increase the severity of the flushes. These can include; alcohol, hot drinks, spicy foods, overexposure to sunlight, overheating or stress.
Why do you recommend Good Juice, instead of Star Quencher, for rosacea?
Both Good Juice and Star Quencher are great moisturiser options to soothe and calm skin.
The reason we lean towards Good Juice for rosacea is that it is also great at improving the skin's natural immunity which may be slightly compromised during a flare-up. Good Juice has the added benefit of containing probiotics that help to fight the bad bacteria on the skin that can lead to infection.
