What's the Skin Juice story?

The Skin Juice brand has been around since 1996. It was started by Joanne Dampney in her beauty salon in Newcastle NSW and born out of the thought that her clients shouldn’t have to choose between healthy and performance skin care. The desire was to create a nutrient-rich professional-grade skincare range that fed the skin like a healthy diet feeds the body.

How does Skin Juice differ from other skin care brands?

To us, skincare is an experience. It’s an unmissable moment of you-time in every day. It’s multi-sensory. Multi-dimensional. It’s about the texture. The scent. It’s about how it makes you feel. How it makes your skin feel. And, it’s about accomplishing all of this, with Australian-made, nutritious and fresh formulations that work.

Are Skin Juice products made in Australia?

Every Skin Juice formulation is made right here in sunny Australia. We’re also 100% Australian-owned and operated. From ideation to sending out orders, we are involved in every single step of our products’ journey.

Is your packaging eco-friendly?

We constantly review our packaging to see if we can improve the environmental impact and find better options.

Some of the past changes we have implemented include:

  • Changing containers from virgin plastic to glass or PCR plastic.
  • PCR packaging is currently in market for products such as Green Juice 30ml, Mummy’s Tummy Cream, Superfruit, Midnight Melt and Lemon Dew refills and Sun Juice Tinted tubes.
  • Using biodegradable and recyclable plastic tubes for our face creams.
  • Introduction of refillable products such as our Lemon Dew, Midnight Melt.

Our suppliers print our product boxes with soy and vegetable soy-based inks and where possible, use FSC paper stocks.

We use recyclable cardboard mailers and biodegradable packing chips to ship our products. The packing chips are made from recycled potato waste – we like to think of them as feel-good potato chips.

While our ultimate goal is to try and make our packaging as easy as we can for you to recycle, ultimately kerbside recycling can differ across regions so we recommend checking with your local council to see what they will accept.

Products

Are Skin Juice products vegan?

Not every Skin Juice product is vegan. Some of our formulations contain beeswax, honey, or proteins derived from milk. To see which botanical formulations are vegan, look for 'Vegan' under the Suitable For section on each product page.

Does Skin Juice test on animals?

No. We love our furry friends and will never test on animals.

Are Skin Juice products safe for nut allergies?

Skin Juice does not manufacture with any peanut oil. We do however use a wide selection of tree nut oils, seed oils and kernel oils in our product formulations, including macadamia nut and almond oil. We recommend thoroughly reviewing the ingredients of each product before purchase.

While thorough cleaning procedures are followed, Skin Juice cannot guarantee that there are no traces of nut oils in products listed as all products are manufactured in the same facility as other nut oils. We advise caution, as all allergies are serious no matter the severity.

Can I be notified when a product comes back into stock?

Yes - get in touch with our customer care team via hello@skinjuice.com.au and they can add you to the list to be notified via email when your requested product is restocked.

Can I use Skin Juice products and products from other brands together in my skincare routine?

Unfortunately, it’s difficult for us to establish true compatibility between the Skin Juice brand and others.

For naturally healthy skin, we recommend creating a routine that includes a Skin Juice Cleanser, Skin Drink, Night Nutrition and Day Quencher - we call this the Daily Diet.

Do Skin Juice products have a shelf life?

Skin Juice products have a 12-month unopened shelf life from when the products are received from us, and a 6 - 9 month life once opened depending on the product. This is identified on each product with the appropriate number inside an open jar icon.

Our skincare products are much like fresh produce - best used in a shorter time frame than overly processed products, to maintain quality, efficiency and freshness.

All of our skincare products are produced here in Australia with the majority manufactured in our purpose-built Juice Lab on the fringe of Newcastle NSW. Our product turnover is very quick and fresh batches of products are constantly being produced, to make sure you receive the very best we can offer.

If you have any concerns for the freshness of your product, feel free to contact our team with the product name and the batch code (printed in black on the base of tubs, jars and bottles and near the seal of tubes) and we can trace the production information.

How long will my Skin Juice products last me?

It depends on the product and how frequently it is used. On average, you’ll get around 3-6 months of use out of a full-sized Skin Juice product.

Why do some of the products contain an ingredient called "Parfum"? Is this a fragrance?

There are two reasons you will see 'Parfum' in our ingredient listing.

The first is that Parfum in the ingredient list is the legally registered INCI name for Naticide. This is a preservative that is made from vanilla and almond extracts. As a manufacturer and retailer we are legally required to list all ingredients under either their INCI or botanical names within the ingredient list. In the case of Sun Juice, the use of 'Parfum' is listed due to the inclusion of this ingredient.

The second reason is that our aroma is listed as Parfum, which is the legal name for labelling aromas but it shouldn't be confused with perfume or synthetic or artificial fragrances. We work closely with an aroma chemist who creates all our unique blends using a range of aromatic essences from various plants and essential oils to create each aroma. This provides greater flexibility and also helps to reduce the risk sensitivity. Importantly, the blends are still 100% natural and extracted from plants.

Where do you source your ingredients from?

Our ingredients come from all around the world, including Australia. This is so we can be sure that we’re getting the best produce possible. Every single ingredient that comes through the Juice Lab is bought through Australian companies and meets all Australian regulations.

Is Skin Juice certified organic?

We use a refreshing blend of natural, certified organic, nature-identical, and nutraceutical ingredients. Our ingredient selection criteria is comprehensive - we only choose ingredients that are healthy and free from harmful chemicals.

To be labelled 'certified organic' products need to go through an official certification process. While our juicy squeezes have not had this certification, you can rest assured our formulations contain only the best and healthiest nutritious ingredients we can get our hands on.
