A plum good clay mask
Clay has long been regarded as a beneficial ingredient in helping to purify and detox the skin. Even in ancient times, clay was used by many cultures to remove impurities and cleanse the skin. While we know the benefits of clay, some of us may have some fear of clay masks, associating them with the thick, drying ones of decades past that were best suited to oily, congested skin.
We are thrilled to introduce the world to Plum Power, our whipped clay mask. Not only does it detoxify and draw out impurities, but it also hydrates and is incredibly nourishing, making it perfect for all skin types.
But how does this new mask work? We thought we would break down some of the key ingredients in the Plum Power blender and what they do.
Kaolin + Bentonite – our clay superstars
Kaolin clay is a white clay mineral that gently refines excess oils, extracts and cleanses impurities, and helps fight bacteria. Bentonite is a powder derived from volcanic ash that can also soak up and remove impurities and excess oil.
Plum Power contains both of these clay minerals to help draw the impurities out of the skin. As the clay mask dries on your skin you may feel a tightening sensation. The clay is absorbing the excess oil and sebum from your skin and pulling impurities from within your pores, to leave your skin clarified and balanced.
Hyaluronic Acid + Shea Butter – for hydration and nourishment
We’re big believers in replacing what we remove from the skin and hyaluronic acid and shea butter are great for helping keep the skin supple, bouncy and brilliant.
Hyaluronic acid is known to be a great hydrator for the skin as not only does it help attract moisture, it also helps retain it. Shea butter is a moisturising oil butter that helps restore skin elasticity and rebuild the protective barrier function of the skin.
Both of these ingredients help combat that dry feeling that has been associated with clay masks in the past. Once Plum Power has been removed, your skin should not only feel ‘clean’ but also bouncy and nourished.
Davidson Plum, Dragon Fruit and Acerola Fruit – Nutrient and antioxidant rich fruits
It wouldn’t be a Skin Juice product without a healthy dose of fruits tossed into the blender and while this recipe is full of some pretty delicious options, these three are extra special and help contribute to that bright and brilliant glow post using Plum Power.
Firstly, Davidson Plum. Besides being the inspiration for the name, this antioxidant rich Australian native behaves like an AHA (alpha-hydroxy acid), helping improve skin tone, promote cell turnover and hydrate the skin cells. It’s also known to assist in balancing the skin’s natural oil production.
Dragon fruit extract is packed full of vitamins C and E that help moisturise the skin, ease inflammation, reduce breakouts and also signs of ageing.
Lastly, acerola is a fruit extract from South America that helps protect the skin against free radical damage, boost collagen production, brighten skin tone and moisturise the skin.
Did we mention it also looks, feels, and smells like a decadent dessert?
Plum Power is a whipped consistency, so it feels light and creamy and is super smooth to apply to the face. It also smells like a tantalising plum and berry dessert explosion.
It’s fast becoming a new favourite of ours and we hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
