5 healthy skin habits

3 November 2020

Consider these 5 easy healthy skin habits that you can incorporate each day to see long term results.

Small habits can make a big difference to your skin! Consider these 5 easy healthy skin habits that you can incorporate each day to see long term results.

1. Resist the Face Touch!

It’s been said that we can touch our faces up to 16 times an hour! As tempting as it can be, resisting touching your face throughout the day is a great skin habit to develop. Touching your face can transfer dirt, oil and bacteria which can lead to unwanted pimples and irritation. Our hands have the greatest chance of being in contact with bacteria from surfaces, so get in the habit of washing your hands and keeping them away from your glowing skin!

2. Simple and Consistent Skincare Routine

When it comes to having a skincare routine one of the most important tips is to stick to a consistent and simple daily routine. You’ll find your skincare is most effective this way, as it allows time for your products to really work on your skin. Lacking the motivation to find a simple yet fun routine to look forward to? Our Virtual Skin Assistant can help you find your Daily Diet that only consists of 4 essential products so you can be excited to do your skincare!

3. Sunscreen

Wearing sunscreen should be a daily habit. The benefits are too good to not want to put on sunscreen each morning! The sun plays a major role in prematurely ageing our skin, along with causing pigmentation and collagen loss. Adding that layer of SPF to your routine will give you so many benefits in the long run. If you’re finding that sunscreen feels gluggy or make you shiny try our Sun Juice for a natural and light alternative.

4. Cleanse Before Bed

Cleansing before bed is ideal to achieve a healthy glow in the morning. Throughout the day we may have sunscreen or make-up on that easily picks up dirt or bacteria. Having clean skin before bed allows your skin time to repair itself at night. Finding a cleanser that suits your skin type while being gentle enough to not strip any natural oils is all you need. We offer a range of cleansers to suit each individual skin type.

5. Beauty Sleep

Do you ever wake up in the morning from a great sleep and notice how good your skin looks? There’s a reason why we call it beauty sleep. Getting enough z’s in the night can really impact how our skin is in the morning! At night our skin goes into a repair state, where it rebuilds collagen and repairs damage from UV exposure, reducing wrinkles and age spots. Seven to eight hours is recommended to see the best results.

The smell of sweet roses, fresh citrus and the hint of crushed vanilla pods. An experience that is uplifting, luscious and fulfilling.

Sensitivity explained:

Sensitivity in skin doesn't always present as obviously red, inflamed or irritated skin.

When sensitive skin is balanced, the outer layer of our skin (called the lipid barrier) is intact, and inflammation and irritation should all be under control. If it becomes compromised that's when we notice changes - like redness, tight skin, shiny skin, excess oil or breakouts.

These changes are a consequence of the sensitivity. For example, your skin may have been stripped of its natural protective oils which then in turn causes it to produce more oil and lead to breakouts.

By treating the sensitivity first and working to get the skin balanced your skin function improves and a lot of these other signs such as breakouts start to reduce in appearance as well.
